The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Ben Erlichman:
This soundtrack is everything I wanted out of this movie. It takes the classic Godzilla themes and modernizes them in ways that are faithful to the originals, and it also adds some awesome cinematic depth to most of the tracks (and of course there's new, original music too which is well done).

BUT there is also a lot of chanting/synchronized shouting on some (many) of the tracks, and it RUINS the effect for me. It's so distracting and annoying. I've heard other soundtracks where this is done well, but here, it feels unnecessary. The music is SO GOOD otherwise... can we just get rid of the stupid chant-shouts and make this a perfect soundtrack?

I'm a fan of Bear McCreary, and he has something special here--or at least, he did before he added in the chanting/shouting where it didn't need to be.

If anyone with any power reads this review, please re-release the soundtrack without the dumb chanting, or remix it so the chants are waaaaaay in the background, because without those chants, this is an excellent soundtrack for longtime fans of Godzilla.

Contains strong, striking pieces. Bear McCreary composes some very impressive revamps of such classic pieces as the Godzilla theme, the Mothra theme, and others.

I saw the movie this past Saturday night, and the soundtrack works even better on screen! What a ride, best of 2019!
